Gold Moto 360 Coming for the Holidays

Watch News

Alas, watch aficionados will have to wait until spring of 2015 to fork over $5,000 for an 18kt gold Apple Watch, but you can still put a shiny golden smartwatch on your wrist or under the tree in time for the holidays. Motorola has just unveiled a new batch of options for the Moto 360 and they include a model with a gold finish band.

Just in time for the busiest shopping season of the year, Motorola has announced new choices for the brand’s Moto 360 smartwatch including more interchangeable bands in both metal and leather. The wearable device will be available with light or dark metal bands, each selling for $299 at the Motorola online store.

Coming in time for the holidays will be a line of slim bands, which the company describes as “an option for smaller wrists or for people who want a different look.” The slim bands will come in a choice of light metal for $299 or champagne gold finish for $329.

In addition to the new metal bands, Motorola has also introduced new interchangeable leather bands in Stone, Black or Cognac. Coming in the future are stitched leather bands in four colors from DODOcase and silicone bands from TYLT.

The selection of bands isn’t all that’s new for the Moto 360. Motorola has given users the ability to customize the look of their watch’s screen with the all-new My Design watch face option. According to the company, “These new watch face options will be available for all Moto 360 watches through an update on the Moto Connect app within the next few days.”

Another new addition to the Moto 360 is a health tracker called Moto Body that allows users to track their calories, heart rate, steps and distance. Owners of the smartwatch can get Moto Body through an app update from Motorola Connect.

The Moto 360 comes with a 1.56-inch circular LCD touch screen of scratch-resistant glass and includes 4GB of storage, a 320mAh battery, pedometer and optical heart rate monitor. The wearable device runs Android Wear and has Bluetooth that is compatible with smartphones running Android OS 4.3 or higher.

If you’re ready to start your holiday shopping by picking up a Moto 360, the wearable device is now available through AT&T at stores and online. The carrier is offering a special limited time package deal that lets buyers get the Moto 360 model that usually retails for $249 for just $199 if you purchase a Motorola Moto X smartphone at the same time. The Moto X phones sell for $99.99 with a two-year AT&T contract.

Since Motorola’s latest flagship phone has received high ratings from reviewers since its release last month, this is a deal worth checking out, especially if you’re in the mood for a new set of mobile devices right now.
