What Do You Get When You Combine A World Famous Watch Maker & Batman?

You get a hard-to-find watch that is one of the hottest items all over the world! The Rolex GMT-Master II with Blue Black Batman Bezel watch has a level of demand much higher than its current level of supply. In fact, the watch is currently selling for more than $500 over retail price due in part to high demand. As no surprise, it’s no easy feat to land the Batman on your wrist.

What’s The Buzz About Black and Blue?

The Black and Blue Batman watch has people talking because of its great features.  Start with the bezel, or the circle around the face of the watch, that shades from blue in the “day” to black in the “night”.  This distinctive shading gives the watch its name and is fashioned from Cerachrom, a form of ceramic. Unlike painted bezels, however, this one is all one piece and is tinted when the ceramic is permeable. The hour graduations are engraved in the bezel then coated with platinum and given a diamond polish so that the whole thing is glossy.  This process creates a scratch-proof and corrosion-resistant surface that will not fade in the sun’s UV rays.

The watch itself features a color-coordinated blue 24-hour hand as well as Chromalight luminosity on the hour markers and moving hands.  The case measures 40 mm and is made of 904L stainless steel.  The Triplock crown provides water resistance to 100 meters.  The Black and Blue Batman also features a 78300 Oyster bracelet of polished steel links with an Easylink clasp.  The clasp also features a 5 mm extension for maximum comfort.  A beautiful sapphire crystal magnifies the date on the black lacquer dial and the Caliber 3186 movement includes a hairspring by Parachrom and an overcoil by Breguet.

Batman Forever

Rolex lovers name the various models of watches, and even though the company does not official endorse these nicknames, they tend to stick.  The GMT Black and Blue has been called “Poweraid,” “Batman,” “Phantom” and “Bruiser.”  While Batman is probably the sexiest of the nicknames, “Bruiser” seems to be gaining in popularity.

The Rolex GMT-Master II with Blue Black Batman Bezel promises to be one of this year’s hottest Rolex offerings.  While these watches may be hard to find, the search that ends in success will be well justified.

Because…..Batman! Seriously though, because of the black and blue bezel, that is how it got its nickname.
