Chopard has teamed up with legendary body shop Zagato to produce one of the more sensational collections released for this year. Zagato has a rich history producing finishes for cars in the Grand Tourismo style, while Chopard is bona fide marvel in horological circles. The Mille Miglia stands as the quintessential racing chronograph for the discerning racing enthusiast. Chopard handles the movement, frame, and the performance of the watch, whereas Zagato takes care of the finishes. The Mille Miglia Zagato is one of the most collectible watches released for 2013.

The case of this timepiece is crafted from blackened DLC stainless steel with the start pusher for the chronograph in bright polished 18kt rose gold. The case measure in at 42.4mm for the diameter and 14.87mm for the case thickness. These dimensions are perfect for the wrist sizes of most men. The bezel is red ion plated stainless steel and carries a 24 hour scale in black Arabic numerals. A 24 hour scale is chosen as the Mille Miglia race is a 24 hour race. Chopard is the official timekeeper of the race.

The dial comes in either white or black and is patterned with Z’s just like the radiator grills out of the Zagato workshops. The dial also features luminous hands and indexes for enhanced legibility at night. The chronograph counters are located at the 12 and 6 positions displaying the minutes and hours respectively. The chronograph seconds are indicated using a central hand. This model also carries a GMT function which operates on the 24 hour bezel scale. The continuous seconds counter is found at 9, while a neat date aperture can be seen at the 3 o’clock position.

This Mille Miglia Zagato watch is outfitted with a mechanical, self-winding movement made entirely in Switzerland. The movement bears the COSC certification making this watch a chronometer. This model features a power reserve of 46 hours when fully wound. The balance wheel alternates at the high frequency of 4Hz allowing this watch to remain accurate.

The strap is on this model uses matte Barenia calf skin leather which is stitched in either black or red and the center of the strap is hollowed in the true Zagato style. The clasp is double deployant and is fashioned to resemble a classic pin buckle. The crystal chosen is made of sapphire used for its scratch resistant properties. The Mille Miglia Zagato from Chopard is water resistant to 50 meters (5 Bars).

This model is produced in a limited series of 500 pieces per variation so there is a total of 1000 watches worldwide. Chopard 2
