Bremont Codebreaker Limited Edition

Bremont Codebreaker Limited Edition

Bremont Watch Company has teamed up with the Bletchley Park Trust to create a limited edition watch called the “Codebreaker”. This watch is fashioned after an officer’s watch from the 40’s. The Codebreaker is totally different than any other watch that has been ever produced as it combines a Flyback chronograph and a GMT function. A percentage of the sale will be going to the restoration of the Bletchley Park. The history of Bletchley Park is quite important in both British history and world history as it was here during World War II that the UK’s main decryption institution – The Government Code and Cipher School was located.

The Codebreaker is issued in stainless steel and 18Kt rose gold, both in limited production of 240 pieces and 60 pieces respectively. The case features Bremont’s famous Trip Tick case construction with treated inner barrel, and a punch card limited edition number. The limited edition number’s material is taken from Bletchley Park. The case carries a diameter of 43mm and a case thickness of 15mm. The main crown is engraved with pinewood from Hut 6, which is also from Bletchley Park. The case back reveals the movement through a transparent sapphire crystal and it features an automatic rotor inspired by the Bombe machine which incorporates original parts from the German Enigma rotor. Bremont 2

The sapphire is domed and anti-reflective ensuring legibility during bright lighting. Sapphire crystal was chosen because of its exceptional scratch resistant nature. The dial features rhodium colored luminous hour and minute hands. The blue dial also carries large applied Arabic numerals for the hour markers and a 24 hour scale also in Arabic numerals which corresponds to the red tipped central GMT indicator. The continuous seconds totalizer is located at the unique position of 8 o’clock, while to balance the dial, the chronograph minutes are located at the 4 position. The chronograph seconds are indicated using a central hand. This chronograph features a Flyback function which is used to time successive events without the need to stop and reset. Completing the dial is a neat date aperture at the 6 o’clock position.

Powering this model is a precise self-winding movement Calibre BE-83AR which features a three-legged Glucydur Nivarox 1 mainspring which alternates at a rate of 28,800 VpH. The Codebreaker carries Incabloc shock protection and a 46 hour power reserve. This model is water resistant to 100 meters, and is secured with a leather strap and ardillon buckle. Bremont 1

The Bremont Codebreaker Limited Edition is set for release just before Christmas 2013.
