Following closely on the heels of the very successful and well received Laguna, Halios has released additional details and prototype photos for their upcoming dive watch The 1000m (aka “The Puck”). Featuring a hooded lug design and a 47 x 15mm case, Halios has aligned this model as the follow up to the Holotype. The Holotype, which we reviewed here, was Halios’ first watch and was met with massive fan fare which lead to the limited run of models completely selling out. This new model looks like a very clean and precise design but some details will change before the proposed November release. You can read the entire blog post (additional photos too) but Halios has stated that there will be changes to the bezel insert, slight changes to the hands and the final design will use a completely white second hand. Strap size will be 24mm and the watch will follow its older siblings in featuring a sapphire crystal. For those of you keeping score, Halios is 3 for 3 so far. The Holotype and Bluering (both limited models) sold out completely and the non-limited Laguna has sold out of the black and grey models until fall of this year. When November rolls around we will do what we can to get a 1000m in for review before a waiting list develops.

It feels like a long time since we previewed the new Halios Laguna back in January but low and behold it is now available for public consumption and Halios’ third watch is a unique take on the retro diver archetype. You may remember the Holotype and the Bluering that we’ve reviewed in the past and if so you will recall we were very impressed by the attention to detail, fit and finish, and style of Halios’ two previous models. Not only is the new Laguna an excellent looking watch but it also has been designed with all of Halios’ knowledge gained after the first two models launched. This new model shows Halios’ maturity, an excellent understanding of their market and a passion for making interesting and exciting sport watches. The new Halios Laguna is slated as a sports watch and has a series of well engineered features and is an excellent snap shot of Halios’ future.

Yesterday Halios posted some very interesting photos to their blog. Seen here, the photos depict the new Halios Laguna which is slated for release in May of this year. The Laguna will follow the massively sucessful Holotype and the BlueRing dive watches. The Laguna will be powered by an ETA 2824-2 Swiss automatic movement, boast 500m WR, and measure 43 x 15mm. There will be three bezel insert options (see picture below). No price is listed as of yet. According to the blog post, this prototype is an accurate look at what to expect from the Laguna, and it is gorgeous. The cushion case, sword hands and reflector (internal rotating bezel) combine to make one of the most attractive new pieces we have seen in a while. Among Halios fans (and dive watch collectors in general) this will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated new releases of the year. Stay tuned to the Halios blog for information on the pending pre-order.
UPDATE May 10th: Halios launched their new site yesterday and it is confirming the release date of the Laguna is still slated for this month. Also, they have details about the next Halios model, the “1000m” which can be seen here.

These days, it seems new designs are increasingly rare in the modern watch world as so many new watches share major design elements with watches we've seen in the past. How many different brand names have you seen that fundamentally look like a Rolex Submariner? Halios is looking to shake this derivative funk with the release of their highly anticipated BlueRing diver.
We were lucky enough to score a review sample in the form of a blue dialed and brushed steel model direct from Vancouver. Frequent visitors will remember our review of the Holotype about a year ago and how we came away impressed by the design, quality, and value of their first offering. The BlueRing expands on the Halios brand with better technology, a fresh design, and a more wearable package.
Let's start with the details:
- 44.5×14.5mm stainless steel case.
- Sapphire crystal.
- ETA 2824-2 automatic movement.
- 22mm lugs.
- 300m/1000ft water resistance.
- Available in brushed or blasted finish.
- SII NE15 movement (black dial version), or the ETA 2824-2 (blue and silver dial versions).

Halios has released new details on it upcoming BlueRing diver. The BlueRing is the follow up to the Holotype and mixes similar style with a lower profile case measuring 15x45mm. If the success of the sold-out Holotype is any indication at all, the BlueRing will go quickly, and hold its value well in the second hand markets.
The BlueRing will be offered in a limited run of 300 units spread across three dials (black, silver, and blue). The BlueRing will be powered by one of two movements: Seiko's 6R15 (available only in the black-dial model) and the ETA 2824-2 (available in the silver or blue-dial models). It's an interesting marketing decision to split the model unevenly across two movements, and will likely make the black model the most sought after.
Take a look at the included illustrations, and check out the post on the Halios blog. The BlueRing will be available in the fall of this year.

In the illustrious and glamorous world of watch reviews there are few things that motivate us at Watch Report like a good deal. Very few people buy products based solely on the price so most of us will choose the product with the best value because it is value that justifies a price. Justification for the price tag is paramount when it comes to watch shopping because watches are one of the few items that inhabit a price range between $5 and $1 million dollars and still share the same basic purpose. So what are we all paying for when we buy watches? Exclusivity? Quality? Or worse, brand? Lets take a look at a new model in the ever-growing market of indie watch manufacturers; the Holotype from Canada based Halios Watches.
Features of the Halios Holotype (Yellow Dial, PVD) dive watch:
- Water resistant to 300m/1000ft.
- 44mm stainless steel case (16mm thick).
- Available in PVD, brushed or bead-blasted finish.
- Sapphire crystal.
- Yellow or black dial.
- Miyota 8215 Automatic movement.
- 45 hour power reserve.
