Watch Hermès Collection in Stores Now
Apple gave us our first look at the Apple Watch Hermès collection during last month’s press event and now the designer smartwatches are available for purchase. The Apple Watch Hermès is being sold now in select Apple and Hermès retail locations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Toronto and a few cities in Asia and Europe.
While the ultra pricey Apple Watch Edition models are basically the standard Apple Watch style tucked into an 18K gold case, the watches in the Hermès collection have unique faces specially designed by the luxury brand plus the logo engraved on the back. This is the first time that Apple has allowed so much branding by another company on one of its products so a lot is riding on the success of the Apple Watch Hermès collection.
The watches in the Apple Watch Hermès collection are available in three styles and five strap color options, all with a stainless steel case. The three equestrian-inspired band designs are called the Single Tour, Double Tour and Cuff. Choices of color for the leather bands are Fauve (tan), Étain (gray), Capucine (light brown), Bleu Jean (blue) and Noir (black).
The Double Tour is available in 38mm only, the Single Tour in 38mm or 42mm and the Cuff in 42mm only. Prices range from $1,000 to $1,500 and include one of the iconic Hermès orange boxes.
I’d be willing to bet that these little beauties will fly off store shelves to become one of the most coveted gift items of the 2015 holiday season. While $1,000 isn’t small change it’s a fraction of what the Apple Watch Edition models cost plus the Hermès models have a much more stylish look. This may be Apple’s first close collaboration with a legendary fashion brand but it’s not likely to be the last.
