Allow us introduce you to the newest model from Helson Watches, the Buccaneer 47mm. This new piece from Helson boasts a 47mm titanium cushion case, an internal crown-operated bezel, and a beautifully integrated domed sapphire crystal. This new Buccaneer is quite a departure from the original Buccaneer‘s design but the new 47mm model does retain much of the original’s military-inspired dial design and styling, which does well with this new edition. Click through for more info and additional photos:

  • 47 x 18.2 mm (at top of crystal, 14.5 mm at the case edge)
  • 52 mm Lug to lug
  • Titanium case and bracelet
  • ETA 2824-2 Automatic movement
  • Domed sapphire crystal
  • Drilled 24mm lugs
  • Automatic HeV (case left)
  • Gold-rimmed hands
  • 1000m Water resistant
  • Includes tube case, bracelet, rubber strap and strap tool
  • Price: $1099

Helson has been kind enough to let us keep the Buccaneer 47 for a couple of weeks to give it the full review treatment, but even after just a few short hours we can share that this new Buccaneer is very large but wears nicely given its relatively short lug to lug size and titanium case. Also, the Buccaneer 47′s domed crystal looks amazing thanks to how its curve perfectly aligns with the angle of the case and bezel. The Buccaneer 47′s shape is almost futuristic and we really like it. The traditional “compressor” layout will be familiar, with the top (two o’clock) non-screw down crown operating the bi-directional bezel and the lower (four o’clock) screw down crown in place for time and date control. Both of the crowns, the bracelet clasp and the case back are adorned with Helson’s skull and crossbones logo, which has seen use in some of their past models.

Following in the footsteps of the  Shark Diver Titanium, Helson the Buccaneer as a low-quantity model with only 30 being made in the first batch and they will sell for $1099 each once available later this week. In the coming weeks, we will produce an in-depth review so if you have any questions about the Buccaneer 47mm, be sure to leave them in the comments, or let us know on Facebook or Twitter.

Editors Note: We believed the Buccaneer 47mm to be a limited edition but Helson has confirmed they will make 30 units in the first run and will be able to produce additional units in the future.

when do you think the review will be coming on this watch?

        • http://watchreport.com James Stacey

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks

Great – look forward to it – as I do all your reviews – I am torn between the Helson Buccaneer 47mm and The Halios Laguna – My old eyes like the readability of the Helson with its big numbers on the dial but the Laguna is striking – Your video reviews allow me to see watches on the same wrist with proper lighting and usually a low light lume shot – very valuable even though I will likely just have to buy both as they are so cool

I hope to have the review ready soon, glad you like them. With any watches that have reasonable or better lume, we show the lume shot (some dress watches dont glow well enough to be seen on camera). If I get the chance I will show the Laguna next to the Buccaneer in the video. They are two very different watches, not only in size but also in design and even case material.

This is a massive and super-cool watch. A grand is a bit too much for it, I think.

I’m sorry to say that that stainless steel bracelet is hideous!

    • http://watchreport.com James Stacey

The bracelet is made of titanium.

Nice looking watch / watch face…but bracelet is a bit over the top – thug life. Tad price as well for what it offers
